I’m new to blogging so please feel free to comment on what you would like to know about my world of aromatherapy…
Perhaps with Valentine’s Day approaching some of you would like to know more about real scents for that special person. Especially if that special person is you!
Firstly let’s be clear so were on the same page , the oils used in aromatherapy are not manmade copies that make you sneeze or candles that are chemically scented …. Yuk. As a professional aromatherapist I only use real botanical oils, so when it smells of lemon, it is lemon (my oil is extracted from the zests by squishing lots of gorgeous Sicilian ones) and yes it does make your mouth water …
So Valentine’s Day is looming – does the lovely classic Rose absolute (Rosa centifolia) and Rose Otto (Rosa damascena) interest you? – Voluptuous, soft and feminine (many petals are used to gain just a drop of oil, the oil is found in the microscopic pockets of the petals). Rose was first mentioned in Sanskrit documents around 7000 years ago. The rose blossom symbolizes love, perfection, beauty and youth. A bath of real rose petal oil …. Or rose body lotion is wondrous for the senses.
Aroma fact – Did you know this oil not only smells fab but is antibacterial, antiseptic, and even antiviral …? It also has components to soothe and calm- so I use it to help clients with anxiety and stress – a true oil of the heart.
Some oils are sought out especially for their aphrodisiac qualities – I get asked a lot about this … For example sandalwood and patchouli – are a couple of favourites, perhaps create your own blend.
Happy Valentines from all at QNC!!
