Are you tired and cold? Do you have unexplained weight gain? Are your hair, skin, and nails not growing like normal? Are you constipated?
If you answered yes to any of these questions, no doubt your thyroid gland has been considered a primary suspect.
Today I answers lots of questions about the thyroid gland on an episode of Eat Real Food TV with my friend Carolyn Coffin. I talk about the thyroid's role in all of the above symptoms, as well as the one strategy I've seen work time and time again over the past 13 years with patients in my naturopathic practice. This strategy has also worked for me personally as well.

Now I would love to hear from you. Have you ever had success treating thyroid symptoms with a real food approach? Leave a comment below and I'll see you next week on Doctor as Teacher Tuesday.

2 Replies to “What’s the deal with my thyroid?”
After being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism (opposite of low thyroid)and seeing a specialist for this autoimmune disorder and believing we can be responsible for our own health outcomes I decided to consult with the Quinte Naturopathic Center. The usual result of medical treatment is to have the thyroid surgically removed or to have it destroyed by radiation. So I also began the diet recommended by Michell (thankyou! ) “The Quinte Naturopathic Center FLT/Detox Food List”.
The result has been that I have had the medication I take for this reduced to 1/2 the lowest dose and have been told that I may be in remission. If I continue with this improvement after the med. has been discontinued I will avoid the surgery or radiation.
While it is not possible to fully attribute this progress to the diet until more time has passed I will definitely continue on this way of eating as a permanent lifestyle choice due feeling much better, lowering my blood pressure, easily maintaining a healthier weight with no cravings, enjoying more energy and loving the food and learning simpler methods of food preparation. And all this at 69 – never too late!!
Thanks so much!!!
