One of the things that I remember learning very early on at naturopathic college is that in order to be healthy people, we also need a healthy planet.
The health of our bodies and the health of our environment go hand in hand.
This year I have been thinking about this concept even more. So I started wondering, what can I do on a small scale to reduce my carbon footprint?
Here are 5 things I have implemented that might inspire you to do the same:
Now I would love to hear from you! What is one thing you have started doing to reduce your carbon footprint? Leave a comment below and I'll be back next week with another edition of Doctor as Teacher Tuesday!

Another good way to help our carbon footprint is to limit or stop our consumption of animal products, especially red meat. I have found that it is much easier than I anticipated. According to statistics that I have read (There are many) 4,900 litres of water are needed to produce one beef burger!
All but 2
Love these ideas! I’ve started being more aware of the plastic that I use and whenever possible, have an alternative. I carry reusable straws and cutlery, take my own containers to the Bulk Barn, take my own containers for leftovers when I go to a restaurant (really, most portions are fit for a king!) and refuse to buy water in plastic. I think every little bit helps!
Yes – me too! Reusable bags, glass lunch containers, stainless steel water bottle 🙂
I agree with limiting or stopping our consumption of animal products from factory farms. Supporting local, sustainable agriculture is still a healthy and viable option that can be considered.
