How many of you can say kohlrabi? It wasn't a vegetable I was familiar with until I started getting my veggie box from Fiddlehead Farms. I remember looking at it thinking that it kinda looked a bit like an alien. And, what the heck was I going to make with it.
Turns out as long as you have the internet you can find a recipe for anything. This one is now one of my summer favourites!
Apple and Kohlrabi Salad
Now I would love to hear from you! Is there an ingredient in one of your favourite recipes that used to be completely foreign to you? Leave a commend below and I'll be back next week with another edition of Doctor as Teacher Tuesday!

One of our family favourites is now fennel slaw. It’s a recipe from one of chef Michael Smith’s cookbooks made with honey and lemon juice. I had never used fennel before we tried this recipe.
That sounds delicious!
Thanks for the recipe! We also get kohlrabi in our CSA. I usually roast it or make kohlrabi fries in the air fryer. Looks like I will be trying salad this week!
Yes, I’ve made kohlrabi fries in the oven as well 🙂
Thanks, we made this for dinner and enjoyed it! I laughed at the reference to a pint of salt with the sunflower seeds and opted for a pinch instead 😉
Lol! That’s definitely a typo. Glad you enjoyed it.
